Our Incubation Program
We take the time to understand our local conditions and to be with the people. Through this process, we identify the real issues and the leaders of the working class in our area—the tenant leader who has the trust of her neighbors, the single mom who led her coworkers on strike against the boss. Those are the people chosen by the working class. Therefore, those are the people we spend our time, energy, and resources to train and support.
Poder Popular represents hundreds of Latinx families in Middle Tennessee. Its leaders are construction, manufacturing, and hospitality workers leading tenant unions and worker committees. This year, they won victories against slumlords, implemented community safety plans, and fought against child labor and greedy bosses.
The Tennessee Drivers Union was the only union in TN with a bill sponsored by TN legislators this year following 4 strikes. Uber retaliated, but the drivers are fighting back! They stopped a $100,000 contract between Metro and Uber and are organizing big moves for 2026.
The leaders of Southern Youth Solidarity Network (SYSN) are young workers and students. This year, they led a 9-week political education program (Justice School) for youth in Nashville and Memphis. Those who completed the program are hitting the streets! More in 2026.
A Luta Sigue aims to facilitate connection and exchange of ideas between incubating groups, as they are encouraged to get honest, get scientific, move intentionally, practice rigor, and document and share learnings. Additionally, we will synthesize, consolidate, and publish major learnings from groups’ assessments and experiments.
